To late to wish you a Happy Valentines Day...

I was planning on popping in here today to say Happy Valentines Day but somehow the day slipped by and I simply forgot.

So, did you do anything for Valentines Day?  If so, what?  Do you celebrate the day or do you celebrate your love for your significant other everyday?  We exchange cards and I try to make a favourite meal for my hubby!  Tonight was slow cooker chicken in a nice tangy sauce, jasmine rice and broccoli and a cake for dessert.  Well sort of a pudding cake!  It was all very tasty and hubby enjoyed which is what counts.

I got a message from a lady last night wondering if I would be able to do some crochet Ballet Slippers for her.  She had found a pattern she adored and doesn't know anyone who crochets. She mentioned it to a mutual friend who in turn passed the message on to me.  So long story short, we chatted and I got the information from her and this afternoon I sat down to work on them and of course I had trouble which is very normal for me when I first start a pattern.  Don't ask me why, but it happens 90% of the time.  Anyways, I persevered and tonight I figured it out!  Talk about a cute little slipper.  Once I get them done I will post a picture.  She has asked about a couple other projects as well so when I get these done and get paid I will move on to the next one for her.

I was so excited but nervous at the same time, that someone actually wants me to make something for them.  I've only ever made things for family really and now to do for a complete stranger makes me nervous.  Is my work good enough?  Will I be able to complete it?  Will they fit?  So many questions I ask myself.

Here in Ontario, Canada we are going to be celebrating Family Day on Monday Feb 18, not sure yet if we are going to be doing anything.  Not likely, unless the kiddos all come for a visit which would be great but I know they usually do things together.  Rock climbing I think for some of them maybe, but not sure.  It's always nice that they do things together with the kids to celebrate the Family unit!

Well, its after midnight and I'm beat. Thanks for stopping by and please don't forget to leave a comment and let me know you were here and where you are from!  I"d love to stop by your blog if you have one as well.

Dreaming in colour!

So the other night I had this dream that was full of smushy, squishy, beautiful skeins of yarn in so many beautiful colourways!  LOL, yep that's right.  I was dreaming of yarn.  I'm not sure why but I was.  In my dream I went to my mailbox and when I opened it this is what I saw.

I'm going to assume I was dreaming of yarn like this because of the post I made the other day with this picture on it and because I NEVER get yarn in my mailbox.  I think it was wishful thinking on my part.  Oh well, even if it is only in my dream it was fun and I was so excited that I danced and jumped on the side of the road (our mailbox is out at the road)!  What a sight that must have been to anyone driving by.  Too bad I had to wake up but like I said even if it was just a dream it was a nice one.  My daughter who is a knitter as well loves opening her mailbox and finding all the yarn goodness she gets quite often.  In fact when she heard about this dream while we were facetiming last night she held up some beautiful yarn she had just received.  LOL, I just have to go online sometime and check out all the yarn and order some for me.

Enjoy your day, whatever you may be doing.

Groundhog says it's going to be an early spring this year so lets wait and see!  It's nice and bright and sunny out today which hasn't happened very often this past week and a half.

What a day!

Wow, that was quite a day.  The weather went from raining cats and dogs to snow squalls and very cold temperatures again.  What is with Mother Nature these days?  What is she trying to prove with all these changes?  LOL, enough of it already.

I had 2 appt's today, well actually 3 if I count the one this evening with my hubby and first thing this morning I got a call from the doctors office saying the doctor was sick and she had to cancel.  Great, i've been trying to get in for ages and now they cancel.  Then this afternoon, I had my app't with my pain specialist for my back injections.  Drove 45 minutes to get there and when I walked in the receptionist greeted me with the fact that the clinic had been cancelled but no one informed her.  She had tried calling me but I didn't hear my cell while driving. Gosh, if it wasn't for bad luck I'd have no luck. So now I have to wait until Feb 11th.  Another 2 weeks which is not good as that means I will be 5 weeks without the needles.

I started a job back in October, part time working in Retail again.  I enjoy the job but it's just not enough for me.  It is a new store that opened, in fact we were all hired to work on stocking the store and opening it.  I really enjoyed that as I've done it previously with another store.  I work with a good group of women and now a man who is our new Manager.  That is a long story that I won't get into but the store and the staff are much better off with this new manager.  Too bad it took 2 1/2 months to realize they needed to make changes.

I've applied at a few places in the last couple of weeks and just hoping something comes along. Something right here in Woodstock would be nice.

Wet weather

This weather is creating havoc all over.  Flooding, wet basements, foggy driving conditions and sickness.  Below freezing last week and I mean very cold and warmer this week.  I think we have had none stop rain for a couple days now.  Although it is stopped right now.  It's days like this when the aches and pains are really bad.  I need summer or at least warm, dry weather.  Today is supposed to get up around 13 but still way to damp for me.

This is the weather that makes you want to just grab your knitting or crocheting and curl up on the couch with a good movie to watch!  That sounds so nice but before I can do that I need to do some housework.

Yesterday, while sitting in the waiting room at the hospital where I was with my parents while my dad was having a spot removed from his back.  There were a few women along with myself who were sitting there with their knitting needles working away to make a sweater, dishcloth and a frilly scarf.  I had my cowl i've been working on and my crocheting with me.  I finished knitting the last few rows of my cowl and then did some crocheting.  Funny how many others carry their crafts wtih them as well.  The one lady was saying it was like having our own knitting circle!  Do you carry your knitting or other crafts with you when you are going somewhere where you know you will be sitting waiting?  I do sometimes but I also get very intimidated by others.  I have always worried that others may consider my knitting not good enough to be carried around with me.  My daughter very politely told me that I was being silly and not to worry what others thougth. So now I do carry my WIP's with me more often.

A new year

So 2013 is here and the month of January is almost gone. I'm a horrible blogger but once again this year I will attempt to be better at it.

I'm still knitting and crocheting.  I've finished several items since last posting.  I really need to go to Ravelry and update there as well since I haven't done that in ages either.

My daughter has started KSiell Boudoir Photography  Beauty and Boudoir Photography.   Be sure to check out some of her work. BEAUTIFUL!

She also has KShiell Photography!  You won't be disappointed if you choose to have your photos taken by Kandice.

Dealing with a cold

I think i'm in week 2 of this cold and week 3 of feeling terrible.  I'm trying hard to just deal with it but it's pulling me down big time.  The cold is in my chest and my voice comes and goes.  But, i'm fighting it and trying to win the fight.  I'm not giving up!

It was so nice to have everyone here for dinner and a visit on Sunday evening.  Krystal worked until 5 and then they came and Kandice was at the trailer and they came from there.  Funny thing was, I had just messaged Kandi to see if they had decided whether or not they were coming.  She asked what time Krystal worked until and said they hadn't decided yet.  I mentioned that i was making pulled pork in the slowcooker and hoped that was ok with everyone.  She said it sounded yummy and then I asked if they were still at the trailer.  Before she answered me or at least before I saw her answer the doorbell rang and being my hubby had just left it was up to me to answer it.  Guess who was standing looking in at me when I opened the door?  Hannah, Kandice and Chris while Ev was in checking out the garage like any little boy or man would want to do!  Yes, Chris went in too to check it out for a few minutes before rounding up Ev.  Of course this isn't the only time Kandi has tricked me but still I fall for it each time.  Oh ya, she also got me good that day about a snake.  I was looking through some vines for shells and she told me there was a snake.  Not good to do that to me because snakes are one of my biggest fears not matter the type or size.  I thought I was going to die of a heart attack and she thought I was going to cry.  I jumped out of that mess of vines so quick.  Got me again!!!

We had a really nice visit, the kiddos went searching for golf balls with the adults of course, at the front of the house they found 2 and we searched for snail shells but only found empty ones.  Can anyone tell me what happens to the snail inside?  I guess I could and most likely will Google it to find out.

The kiddos weren't feeling all the great with colds like nana so after lunch they had naps and Kandice and I were knitting for a bit while the guys were doing something outside or downstairs.  Oh right, moving the treadmill out of the garage.

Krystal, Adrian and Keira came and once again a surprise for them too...everyone was here for dinner.  Dinner was good, seemed like everyone enjoyed although the kiddos didn't eat much.  After dinner the guys did the dishes and us girls went back outside with the kiddos, once again in search of any golf balls that may have been misdirected to our propery due to whatever it is a golfer does to have a ball cross a highway and land on our property.  This time one was found and Keira got it!  A quick game of basketball with the kiddos and then Coffee and pie outside just before the rain started and then everyone got ready and headed home!

I just love when we have visits like that.  I'm so happy for the close knit family we have.  I love them all very much!

Loving our new home!

I was sitting outside tonight for a while knitting and enjoying my coffee and realized just how much I love it here.  Yes, we are 45-50 minutes away from the girls and their families but I know it's not that far and we can drive there easily enough.  Like I did today!  Anyways, I was sitting there listening to the different sounds I was hearing like the birds singing, the traffic moving along the highway and a tractor or something (I couldn't see it from where I was sitting) over on the golf course doing whatever it was doing at the end of the day and it felt nice!  Yes, I said the traffic moving along the highway...it's not that bad though really. There are trucks and cars but thankfully they are entering an area where the speed drops or is still dropped before heading into or out of Woodstock.  We have a golf course directly across the road from us and yes we have started a collection of golf balls.  It's growing and has now hit 7 if I'm not mistaken.  I was or maybe I still am a little nervous about that, being the other night after having just picked up 3 balls another one came and landed in the driveway not far from where I was standing, wondering how safe it really is living across the road from a golf course.  I think I would be more worried being in a car driving by just when the ball is heading across the road.  We do have a fairly big yard and driveway so they would have to be really driving it hard to get that close.  I think at least!!!

So ya, I'm happy and content here and convincing myself to start learning/googling all I can about gardening and finding out what is a weed and what is a plant in our gardens.  We have a whole lot of vines growing and that needs to be addressed and lots of plants in the front, back and side yards.  The previous owner thankfully left me a book all about plants and such that I'm hoping will help me along with Google and some friends who enjoy gardening very much.  I have to get past the thought that there are snakes out there living on the same planet as me and most likely sharing the same soil as me.  That's going to be a difficult one to get used to especially now that I saw the picture a friend posted of the snake in her yard.  Seriously, it looked huge and looked hungry ( ok maybe not so much hungry) but it did look huge to me.  Kandice didn't think so and said she agreed with others that it was JUST a garter snake...somehow that didn't make me feel any better!  JUST a garter snake that's all!  LOL!

So I'm happy and content in our new home and although there are things that I know other buyers would have changed right away in the house I'm loving it the way it is and will slowly make the changes as we feel the need.  Yes, we have started painting (so far one room) and that certainly helps make it feel more like home but in time we will do the things that need done.  Taps need to be changed, shower heads need replaced, flooring needs to be updated (not a big deal as they are clean and all in good shape) and of course the sink and toilet in the one bedroom definitely needs to be removed sooner than later.  Why you ask is there a sink and toilet in a bedroom?  The only answer I can give you is because it used to be a bed and breakfast the owners put these items in their bedroom so as not to disturb any of the guests they may have had staying in the house.  We don't need or want them in the bedroom so out they come.

Arend is slowly getting his garage together, its taking time being we have been at the trailer on the weekends and it's after 6 when he gets home from work and we have been busy with other things in the evenings.  The stereo is  hooked up and the wires are hiding for the most part and the speakers are hanging like we wanted.  And, a door has been put on at the top of the basement stairs.

Now, it's time for me to get some sleep!  Good night!  or morning, evening depending on what time you are reading this!  Thanks for stopping by!
