Loving our new home!

I was sitting outside tonight for a while knitting and enjoying my coffee and realized just how much I love it here.  Yes, we are 45-50 minutes away from the girls and their families but I know it's not that far and we can drive there easily enough.  Like I did today!  Anyways, I was sitting there listening to the different sounds I was hearing like the birds singing, the traffic moving along the highway and a tractor or something (I couldn't see it from where I was sitting) over on the golf course doing whatever it was doing at the end of the day and it felt nice!  Yes, I said the traffic moving along the highway...it's not that bad though really. There are trucks and cars but thankfully they are entering an area where the speed drops or is still dropped before heading into or out of Woodstock.  We have a golf course directly across the road from us and yes we have started a collection of golf balls.  It's growing and has now hit 7 if I'm not mistaken.  I was or maybe I still am a little nervous about that, being the other night after having just picked up 3 balls another one came and landed in the driveway not far from where I was standing, wondering how safe it really is living across the road from a golf course.  I think I would be more worried being in a car driving by just when the ball is heading across the road.  We do have a fairly big yard and driveway so they would have to be really driving it hard to get that close.  I think at least!!!

So ya, I'm happy and content here and convincing myself to start learning/googling all I can about gardening and finding out what is a weed and what is a plant in our gardens.  We have a whole lot of vines growing and that needs to be addressed and lots of plants in the front, back and side yards.  The previous owner thankfully left me a book all about plants and such that I'm hoping will help me along with Google and some friends who enjoy gardening very much.  I have to get past the thought that there are snakes out there living on the same planet as me and most likely sharing the same soil as me.  That's going to be a difficult one to get used to especially now that I saw the picture a friend posted of the snake in her yard.  Seriously, it looked huge and looked hungry ( ok maybe not so much hungry) but it did look huge to me.  Kandice didn't think so and said she agreed with others that it was JUST a garter snake...somehow that didn't make me feel any better!  JUST a garter snake that's all!  LOL!

So I'm happy and content in our new home and although there are things that I know other buyers would have changed right away in the house I'm loving it the way it is and will slowly make the changes as we feel the need.  Yes, we have started painting (so far one room) and that certainly helps make it feel more like home but in time we will do the things that need done.  Taps need to be changed, shower heads need replaced, flooring needs to be updated (not a big deal as they are clean and all in good shape) and of course the sink and toilet in the one bedroom definitely needs to be removed sooner than later.  Why you ask is there a sink and toilet in a bedroom?  The only answer I can give you is because it used to be a bed and breakfast the owners put these items in their bedroom so as not to disturb any of the guests they may have had staying in the house.  We don't need or want them in the bedroom so out they come.

Arend is slowly getting his garage together, its taking time being we have been at the trailer on the weekends and it's after 6 when he gets home from work and we have been busy with other things in the evenings.  The stereo is  hooked up and the wires are hiding for the most part and the speakers are hanging like we wanted.  And, a door has been put on at the top of the basement stairs.

Now, it's time for me to get some sleep!  Good night!  or morning, evening depending on what time you are reading this!  Thanks for stopping by!
